Training fees range
from $650 per month for two-, three-, and four-year olds (or horses at the
equivalent stage of training). Trained show horses aged 5 and up are
$550
per month. Horses can be tuned before a show for $50 per day, or
$200 for the whole week. Scott's horses are started correctly, and
are trained to be supple, to stop straight and turn around right, and to work eye to
eye with a cow.
It is becoming
increasingly difficult for many training facilities to secure the use of
good cattle on a regular basis. Scott and Steve are fortunate enough to
have several cattle deals which ensure the availability of top quality, fresh cattle
at all times, and they have not had to raise their prices to offer this. A
constant fresh cattle supply during training is essential to having a
well-trained, cow-smart, thinking horse which is ready to go compete.
Another important
advantage of our training program is the fact that two accomplished
trainers work with both the colts and show horses on a regular basis.
There is very little down time for your horse due to shows, sales, and
other unavoidable scheduling conflicts. At most training barns, if the
trainer is gone for the day or the week, then a helper lopes the horses,
or they don't get ridden at all. Our horses don't lose valuable training or conditioning time.
